소개
Bok Hongseok previously served as a Research Fellow in the Market Research Department and Director of the Fair Trade Research Center at the Korea Fair Trade Mediation Agency (KFTMA).
During his tenure at KFTMA, he successfully conducted research on fair trade systems and policies, market and industry analysis, and operations for programs such as the Compliance Program (CP) Rating Committee (serving as evaluation secretary and performing evaluation-related tasks). He also managed consulting projects for competition impact assessments and research assignments commissioned by the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC), contributing significantly to the development of fair trade systems, for which he was awarded the KFTC Chairperson's Commendation.
He has published numerous academic papers on fair trade in prestigious journals, such as Law and Economics Review and Review of Industrial Organization Studies. Notably, his 2012 paper in Review of Industrial Organization Studies was recognized for its academic excellence and awarded the Chun Dang Academic Award (Best Paper Award of the Year) by the Korea Industrial Organization Society.
From April 2016 to January 2023, he worked at the Economic Analysis Division of the KFTC, where he conducted economic analyses for major M&A cases, including the Korean Air-Asiana merger, Baemin-Yogiyo merger, and KT Skylife-Hyundai HCN merger. Additionally, he supported economic analyses for significant fair trade cases, such as Google’s abuse of market dominance in the OS market, collusion in labor rates within the imported car repair market, and unfair support activities among affiliated companies in conglomerate groups. For his contributions, he was named "Fair Trade Official of the Year" in 2021 and received a total of five Ministerial Awards during his time at the KFTC.
He has also delivered numerous lectures and participated in discussions on topics such as compliance programs and economic analysis for fair trade at workshops, forums, seminars, and academic conferences hosted by related organizations.
